You are who you think you are! Self confidence is the belief that you can achieve and succeed.
In our busy working lives, it's important to project an image of confidence and poise. Our workmates and colleagues tend to judge us by the image we project. A confident image will help set you apart and give you skills to deal with a variety of issues in our ever changing workplace.
Aims of Workshop
The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to issues of self confidence and self esteem and to impart several confidence-creating, confidence-building, life affirming tips. It also aims to encourage people to see how some changes in the workplace or in our personal lives can be great opportunities for self growth.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- Describe the difference between self confidence and self esteem
- Identify areas where personal confidence is strong/weak
- Evaluate ways to improve self confidence
Workshop Outline
Participants may be introduced to a range of subjects drawing on:
- Where does self confidence come from?
- Your inner critic: rewriting the script of your life
- Worry and guilt; anxiety and stress
- Attitude is half the battle
- Challenging 'shoulds' and breaking the worry cycle
- Perfection and procrastination
- Help! I'm the boss but I don't feel like the boss: confidence and leadership
- Blowing your own trumpet
Challenging situations such as:
- Selection and appraisal interviews
- Public speaking and presentations
- Career changing
- Leading and participating in meetings
- Making and defending decisions
- Networking and meeting new people
- Confronting professionals, zapping energy vampires, saying no to relatives
Participants may nominate other challenging situations which they would like covered in advance of the workshop.
